41 Copywriters received 10 mentions or more since 2022. They are listed above along with their percentage of the total 3,500+ mentions.

Last year I wrote an article that brought (at least) 50,000+ visitors to Copywriting.org. It was called The 44 Most Popular Copywriters of 2022 – based on interview data from 712 copywriters who answered 1 simple question:

“Who is your favorite copywriter?”

However, it wasn’t so simple after all. I quickly learned that people go cRaZy when themselves (or their favorite copywriters) aren’t at the top of the list. It was PURE CHAOS!

Older readers got upset that younger copywriters beat out the ‘fathers of copywriting’, like Eugene Schwartz, John Carlton, and Claude Hopkins… While younger readers sided with their copywriting coaches, like Stefan Georgi or Alex Cattoni.

To that I say 1 thing: The market speaks for itself.

We now have 2,043 interviews (nearly 3x more data). And I clearly state potential biases in this intro, like how the founder of Copywriting.org got a lot of mentions (duh). But most people skip the intro – glad you’re still reading! 😜

Many interviewees had multiple favorites – so I included any copywriter who was mentioned at any point in the interview (except for the people who voted for themselves lol)! In total, there were 3,500+ mentions across 2,043 interviews since December 2022. The 41 copywriters below have 10+ mentions. Below these 41, you can also see everyone else who has 5+ mentions. I even included how many of the mentions were from 2023 alone.

2. Stefan Georgi - 144 Mentions (4.1%)

Known for selling over $1,000,000,000 worth of products & services while running the Copy Accelerator Mastermind & sharing his ideas almost daily, Stefan Georgi is now an industry leader with anything AI-related. He received 33 mentions in 2023, which would rank #8 when counting only 2023.

3. Gary Halbert - 134 Mentions (3.8%)

Gary Halbert moved far up the list this year, known for his work with brands like Rolls Royce – and is known for writing the Gary Halbert Letters to his son Bond from Boron Federal Prison. He received 74 mentions in 2023, which would rank #3 when counting only 2023.

4. Troy Ericson - 131 Mentions (3.7%)

Troy Ericson is the founder of Copywriting.org, MailGenius.com, EmailDeliverability.com, & EmailListManagement.com – one of the world’s best email marketers. You can book a time with him at TroyEricson.com. He received 68 mentions in 2023, which would rank #4 when counting only 2023.

5. David Ogilvy - 107 Mentions (3.1%)

David Ogilvy is another famous oldschool copywriter on the list & is considered the “Father of Advertising” for working with clients such as Campbell’s Soup, Shell, & Bristol Meyers. He received 75 mentions in 2023, which would rank #2 when counting only 2023.

6. Daniel Throssell - 101 Mentions (2.9%)

Daniel Throssell is considered by many to be the most entertaining email copywriter of all-time, despite having limited social presence outside of his email list. He received 50 mentions in 2023, which would rank #5 when counting only 2023.

7. Justin Goff - 90 Mentions (2.6%)

Justin Goff is known for scaling Patriot Health Alliance to $23MM per year and then founding the Copy Accelerator Mastermind with Stefan Georgi, which he has since exited. 15. Andy Mukolo - 41 Mentions (1.2%)

Andy Mukolo is the most popular copywriter in Nigeria, where copywriting has grown quickly the last several years. He received 25 mentions in 2023, which would rank #12 when counting only 2023.
