Q1. Where are you from?

Cairo, Egypt

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

Most of my career has been spent in marketing, customer management, account management and direct sales. All these functions require some level of B2B copywriting. Due to the commercial sense I bring into the writing, I did freelance work outside of my full-time job’s copywriting requirements.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

Marketing material copy, ad copy, social media posts, emails, letters, blog entries, as well as articles.

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

Tech, finance, start-ups and entrepreneurship, marketing, movies and series, geo-politics, religion, and anything related to the Middle East.

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

A change in one punctuation point can change the whole meaning. Must be precise and concise.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

People like Ogilvy and Leo Burnett did not just do copywriting; they created the guidelines which, tweaked to this day and age, still provide the basis for the work of any copywriter.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I oversaw all product related copywriting for the start-up Minly (www.minlyapp.com). Even after having left companies a long while ago, my copy still lives. For example, Sigma Capital still uses the copy I wrote for its website even though I resigned in 2016. You can see the copy at https://sigma-capital.com/main/corporate.home .

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

I am a perfectionist (the good kind though).

Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?

amrshrakha@gmail.com
