Q1. Where are you from?

Harrogate, UK

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

When I had my 3 kids, I was forced to quit my banking career. Turns out, getting into the office at 6.30 am isn’t compatible with keeping tiny people alive. So, I turned my back on corporate life and swapped it for wiping babies’ bottoms instead. A few years into it… I got a bit bored. So – like any good Type-A mother – I launched a parenting blog. After being stopped in the streets a few time by readers, I realised I was pretty good at generating traffic and attention. And maybe I could make money from writing. Being a mercenary at heart, I quickly switched from blogging to direct response because I like the smell of money ;)

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

Back in the day, I used to be a competitive figure skater. And similar to figure skating, you’re never done getting better. This is a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, you forever get to learn one of the coolest skills there is. On the other hand… no one ever “makes it”.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

David Deutsch. I mentored with him this year and his mind works at 10x the speed of anyone I’ve ever met before. He also has an amazing skill for saying more in 3 words than I can say in 500.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

In a few short years, I’ve gone from bright-eyed newbie to Senior Copywriter at Grant Cardone. It’s an honour to work with one of the best and most ambitious marketing teams on the planet.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

I remember my mentor once telling me… copywriters can either be cheap, fast, or effective. But they can’t be all 3 at once. It’s something to think about when hiring a copywriter.
