Q1. Where are you from?

Franklin Park, NJ

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

I worked in strategy at media agencies in NYC before getting into copywriting, so I ran in some general “advertising world” circles. I somehow managed to get some of my presentation headlines made into ads for my clients, was complimented on my emails, and would often be asked to edit my boss’ work. I think in general I was always looking for a way to be just a little more creative, and knew I loved playing with words. I found out a newcomer on my skeeball team (yes, they exist) worked as a copywriter at an ad agency, and a lightbulb went off – abusing the world with puns really is a job.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

I write brand voice guides, website copy, sales pages, email sequences, and product descriptions. I’ll write social captions if you ask nicely.

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

My favorite niches are wellness and lifestyle – they give me an opportunity to write with a lot of personality for products and services that I’m excited about.

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

I’ve learned to shift from having an underlying employee mindset to being my own boss, even if I wish she wasn’t sometimes.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

I have to pick just one? Alex Cattoni! Her courses brought me into copywriting once I decided to leave my 9-5, and her community of badasses has kept me in it.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I just had a client show her mom and sister the About Page I wrote for her, and she sent a screenshot of their reactions. They cried because “OMG it’s so perfect!” I’ll take that level of enthusiasm any day.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

Great idea! The best, really.

Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?

bmacy21@gmail.com
