Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?
My copy philosophy? Writing words that sell- the kind that attract eyeballs, tickle curiosity and open wallets… …does NOT come from ‘hand copying the greats’ 8 hours a day until you can’t move your wrists. It’s about knowing which 50 words to remove from a sales page or an email because they don’t move the sale forward. Knowing which words to cut? Well, 90% of that comes from in-the-trenches iteration. Asking the right questions. Listening to the market. And clearing out the clutter that confuses. The other 10%? That’s the edge that comes from working with proven creative processes… …and being mentored by & collaborating with some of the greats in the business. Jon Benson. Kevin Rogers. David Garfinkel.
