Q1. Where are you from?

Orlando, FL

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

I first discovered copywriting from the Early to Rise emails Michael Masterson (Mark Ford) used to send (before Craig Ballantyne bought ETR).

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

Email and web copy

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

Music and business

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

The simpler it is to read, the better it performs.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

My favorite is probably Matt Furey for his no-holds-barred approach to email copy.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I’m newer to freelance copywriting. I just started helping a friend launch his ecomm business in the gun niche. The Thanksgiving weekend emails I wrote for him had 30% open rates and clickthrough was close to 3%. The list started at 0 the first week of November, and it’s close to 400 now with organic traffic.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

Great! Let’s run a short 3-5 email campaign and see how well we work together. If it feels right, we’ll step up to the next level and plan out the strategy moving forward.

Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?

dvance@soundcopywriting.com
