Q1. Where are you from?

Cadiz, KY

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

I was running a video, web and creative design agency and discovered that our clients’ success didn’t have a whole lot to do with how pretty or “professional“ we made them look. So I dug in and started researching. I came across the skill of copywriting, and how crucial it was to communicate and frame value for our clients.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

VSLs, emails and lead magnets primarily. Sales letters and ads also.

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

Tech, real estate, finance, -and most any brand that’s not afraid to come off like they have some personality

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

That I can’t help anyone—even if I wrote the best copy in the world—if they, themselves do not clearly understand just how proprietary they are.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

The late Joseph Sugarman, because he was so down-to-earth and humble as a person. He taught that the most effective copywriters were usually people who valued and revered many different experiences in their lives. One who lives in such a way that they learn from every experience can draw back on those and can write words that connect with nearly anyone.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I recently worked with a client to help them achieve a 69% open rate with a 25% CTR. Another client is now experiencing a set-it-and-forget-it automated sales system with a simple funnel, a VSL and a handful of follow up emails that are helping her sell a set of $170 books.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

You’ll talk to a lot of people who will vie for your business and immediately begin writing. I will tell you that we do not start with jumping in and writing your content. Our step one: me and you both figuring out how to frame you as the most proprietary problem solver on the planet for your market.

Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?
