Q1. Where are you from?
Richmond, Virginia
Q2. How did you discover copywriting?
I was an outbound sales rep for a logistics company, and since I was one of the most consistent reps in the company my CSO recommended I learn copywriting and marketing.
Q3. What forms of copy do you write?
Pretty much all forms of direct response copy like ads, sales letters, VSLs, landing, thank you, and upsell pages, but my bread and butter are emails. :)
Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?
Music and Art. I love playing guitar, drawing, and painting, and what better way of pursuing my passions than by writing about them?
I also love writing copy for the Big 3 in B2C like health/fitness, dating, and bizopp, and B2B as well.

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?
I learned this from Daniel Throssell and it is context. And to quote his Email Copywriting Compedium – “Literally every single thing that anyone ‘teaches’ about copywriting — ‘best practices’, ‘rules’, ‘proven templates’, ‘systems’, and anything else — is context-dependent.”
I think as copywriters we tend to forget that just like everything in life, context is super important.
And sometimes we get carried away with applying certain strategies and methods into our copy that we end up sabotaging our own hard work.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?
Daniel Throssell. He’s just tooooooooo darn funny. ????
He makes learning copywriting soooooooooooo entertaining that I have to type in so many OOOOOOOOOOOOs.
(Daniel would know why I typed so many OOOOOOOOs in this response ????)

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?
I just signed a client who will be paying me a monthly retainer to handle his clients email marketing plus revshare in the back end.
His offer is starting to scale real fast and we’re estimating to have 10 clients who need help with email marketing by end of March.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?
If you have a passion for music, arts, writing, and you have good taste in cars (ie. Porsche’s and BMW’s ????) then I’m your guy.
Also, don’t be surprised if we become real good friends.
