Q1. Where are you from?

Calgary, Canada

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

I always knew I wanted to be a writer, dreaming up chapter books in grade school and excelling in English class. But I didn’t know how to make a living doing it. I started out as a freelance content writer after university, helping clients with content creation, implementation and marketing strategies. However I slowly started to notice this word “copywriter” popping up. So I did some internet sleuthing, found a certification program, and I never looked back. Now my entire business is centred around high-level copy and digital marketing.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

My client base is diverse, therefore I write a wide variety of assets: Sales letters, emails, website copy, landing pages, ads, video scripts, lead magnets and more. I also write content, including blogs, social captions, newsletters, articles, the list goes on.

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

I tend to write for a lot of coaches, creatives, leaders and course creators, those who have knowledge to share. This often falls in the entrepreneurship, marketing and personal development categories. I’m also VERY passionate about travel, health and fitness.

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

Good copywriting is POWERFUL and VALUABLE. Sure anyone can write, but it’s truly a skill when someone can identify, match and elevate your brand voice so it continually builds likability, trust and loyalty with your audience. Consistency is key.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

Hands down, Alex Cattoni — Marketer of the Year 2022, baby! And of course my whole crew of Reignmakers in Alex’s high-level mastermind. I joined Alex’s community years ago, and I’ve made countless lifelong friends and colleagues along the way, some of whom I chat with almost every single day. I’m so grateful for the community Alex has built, and the knowledge bombs she continues to drop on us weekly. Thanks to this community, I now focus on relationship marketing to help my clients show up ethically and authentically online so they create real connections with real people (none of this quick-hit, churn-and-burn nonsense).

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I’m the founder of Content by Kelsey, a small boutique marketing agency where we specialize in serving both aspiring and leading brands seeking to make positive changes with high-level copy and marketing support. Major win? My company doubled over the past year, which means we doubled our impact! Nothing gets me more excited than giving a voice to those whose missions may be going unheard.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

Let’s chat! If you ever find yourself saying there’s never enough time in the day, send us an email. If you’re burnt out trying to do e-very-thing yourself, we’d love to chat. If you’re stumped, stuck or confused, maybe we can help. If you’ve tried, tried and tried again, perhaps we can strategize and offer you a new perspective. We help clients launch and relaunch all year-round, so let us weigh in and see how we can help you build your brand, grow your revenue, and maximize your impact.

Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?
