Q1. Where are you from?

Currently – Las Vegas, NV USA

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

I chose self employment when I was 19, in 1973. I always had a way with words throughout my school years. I just started modeling the ads and sales letters I saw in newspapers, magazines, and direct mail, teaching myself to write copy to make sales.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

I have, can, and will probably continue to write all forms of copy. I’m best known for and specialize in copy makeovers, taking existing copy (regardless of who wrote the control) and making it convert better. I’ve never failed to increase conversions with my makeovers.

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

I won’t say I have a favorite because I’ve always said I can tune into any product, service, and marketplace and communicate the value proposition in a way that connects with the target audience and inspires them to act.

The caveat is that I have to ‘fall in love’ with the provider, the product, and the audience to be inspired to work my magic.

I’m not a mercenary who’ll just take money and write for anyone or anything.

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

Connecting deeply with the reader/listener/viewer’s subconscious mind through a foundation of established and maintained rapport is the portal through which inspiration to act gets activated.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

I greatly enjoy reading just about anything John Carlton writes, because he’s simply a great writer.

That’s a bit of a dodge that I’ll leave up to you to grok.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I’m not a braggart so I’ll just impart a few facts.

I’ve been scribbling words that sell for just north of 50 years now. I’ve built two 7 figure and one 8 figure annual sales companies of my own, all in the tech arena, based on my gift of being able to tap the mind of a market and offer what they want in a way that got them to buy with my words.

I’ve written and sent over 10 Billion email marketing messages.

My makeovers have produced instant revenue gains of 52% (with just the first 2 of 12 specified changes implemented) for Jason Hornung,
