Q1. Where are you from?

Nigeria

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

In April 2020, while looking for books on the internet on “how to become a better writer”, I stumbled on Gary Halbert Boron Letters. At the time, I didn’t know anything about copywriting but was curious enough to find out. Shortly after, I bought Andy Mukolo’s course on Copywriting and I’ve never looked back.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

Emails, ads

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

Health, ecommerce, supplements

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

The number One lesson I’ve learned, and one I’d wished I’d learned far earlier, is to say no more often than I say yes. In fact, NO should be the default answer. That’s because 95% of opportunities are likely not the right fit for your short-term or long-term career trajectory anyway. Most opportunities that cross your path are likely… … the wrong person … the wrong time … the wrong product/service … at the wrong price It’s kind of like dating. As a copywriter or freelancer, the goal isn’t to “date” or “close” anyone who breathes. The goal is to find the right fit client who you can actually help, whose data will also help YOU move forward, and who’ll be someone you can network with long-term. A client who’s a pain in the ass, who isn’t ready for you, and who likely won’t refer you to anyone else is going to set you back more than if you hadn’t had any clients at all during that period. Which is why it’s better to say NO when it’s not a good fit, and refer the opportunity to someone else in your network who is. You’ll generate goodwill while also reinforcing to yourself, your network, and the universe exactly what you DO want more of
