Q1. Where are you from?

San Francisco

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

Purely by accident. I wanted to write for a living, hated my job and someone I knew mentioned copywriting. I google it, came upon Gary Halbert and immediately fell down the rabbit hole.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

Emails primarily, though I started by writing sales letters (I prefer short-form).

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

Ecom, health, real estate

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

The only way to know anything for sure is to test it.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

Bill Jayme. Hardly anyone these days knows him but he was the highest paid direct response writer at one time and had an incredibly literate but easy-to-read, effective style. His salesletters built many of the magazine brands we know today.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

Semi-beginner with no recent wins

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

That I always turn in work early, I’m obsessed with testing and finding what works, and I’m in the process of being trained in list management and deliverability by the best in the game.

Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?

seanlukens@gmail.com
