Q1. Where are you from?
Originally from Missouri, then California, then Hawaii, and now Colorado.
Q2. How did you discover copywriting?
I have always loved to write, since I was a kid. When I was around 12 years old I wrote a song and sent it in to a publishing agency. They said they liked and would like to put music to it and publish it – the only catch was that I would have to pay for that service. My family was not well off and it was out of the realm of possibility at that time, so my song died on the vine. However, that little bit of success, the fact that someone wanted to publish my work, fanned the flames of my writing ambitions and the rest is history. I have written everything from poems to regional policy for the Fish & Wildlife Service with the Department of the Interior. When my sis offered to set me up to take an email marketing course with Daniel Levis I jumped at the chance. Since then I have written email campaigns for summits, masterminds, masterclasses, focus groups, webinars, and a variety of small businesses.
Q3. What forms of copy do you write?
Email campaigns and series, social media, sales letters, content articles, proposals, sales letters, ads, you name it.
Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?
I don’t really have a favorite. I seem to attract female entrepreneurs and start ups.
Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?
Know your subject. Without the proper research and preparation your copy may lack the impetus, flavor, and ‘juice’ needed to properly convey the message you are attempting to create. I don’t think you can really prepare too much. I do a fairly deep dive into my client’s business, life, their competition and their industry to be certain I know the jargon, pain points, fears, frustrations, aspirations, goals, dreams, and desires so that I can adequetly address these in my copy.
Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?
Well, I learned under Daniel Levis, so I think my work probably has a certain amount of his style in it. I also am a fan of Doberman Dan and am one of his ‘Knights’, he has a refreshing down to earth style. I follow Troy, Chris Orzechowski, and Csaba from Game of Conversions.
Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?
I am happy to say that I am getting to be known as an expert in my field. I recently was a speaker at a Bootcamp hosted by Tom Matzen and Dannella Burnett, I have spoken on a handful of summits, and have been accepted as Leader in the prestigious Achieve Systems business development organization. It is gratifying when your public recognizes your talents.
Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?
We first have to have a discovery call. I need to know more about you and your business to know if we are even a fit to do business together. If we are, hot dog! I will start my research and do the best I can to meet your expectations, whether that is more leads, conversions, revenue, drip campaign, launch, follow up series, welcome series, or whatever it is that your business needs at the time.
Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?
