Q1. Where are you from?

California USA

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

I discovered copywriting when I was selling products on Etsy, Amazon, and eBay.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

I most often write about pages, emails, blogs, and landing pages. But I’ve also written sales pages, social media posts, and ads.

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

My favorite niches to write in are finance and business coaching. I’m a former accountant and financial analyst.

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

The #1 lesson I’ve learned is how not to take feedback personally. I see feedback, whether positive or negative, as an indicator of how well the goal of the project was met. If the feedback is positive then I see it as mission accomplished. If it’s less than positive, I ask “why did this miss the mark?”. That’s why setting goals for each project is so important. It keeps me focused.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

My favorite copywriter is Laura Belgray because she writes the most entertaining emails. They’re the only emails I really look forward to. Her headlines are fun and always get me to click. I’ve learned a lot about good copywriting by analyzing her emails.

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I’m going on six years as a copywriter. At first it was a side hustle with aspirations of going full-time at some point. Because I enjoyed writing, I ended up taking as many copywriting gigs as possible. These projects led to a steady flow of referrals. In 2021, I realized I was ready to give up my accounting job and write full-time. My website (www.tkcopywriter.com) will be up and running by the last week of April 2023. That’s my big win at the moment.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?
