Q1. Where are you from?
Arizona
Q2. How did you discover copywriting?
Gary Halbert newsletter, circa 1993
Q3. What forms of copy do you write?
Direct response sales copy, emails, sales letters, scripts, advertorials, you name it…pretty much have written it.
Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?
Health and wellness, biz opp, personal and business development (men).
Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?
It’s better to be loved than famous
Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?
Wow. That’s a tough one. Brian Keith Voiles served as my copy chief for my first full-page ad in Entrepreneur magazine. It was my first big project outside of what my brother Joe and I had been doing at Piranha Marketing. Peter Louis is completely unknown but has a heart of gold, he’s a dear friend and a great writer. Lived with Gary H. for months. Cole Schafer and Daniel T are hard to ignore…
Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?
Well, I get wins every week, except for the last two years I’ve not been playing with really easy win markets. Getting 400 people to register for a virtual seminar in Nov was pretty cool, not sure how many thousands the client generated that day tho.
Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?
That depends on the client. One might get a reference to my being a “method marketer” from my professional acting career, while others would be told about my 1990s moniker of being “the world’s most consciousness copywriter” because of how I care about my clients and their results. Everyone would hear that I have clients who’ve been with me for 20-plus years because I build relationships, and people can count on me to do what I say I will.
Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?
stark@copyavengers.com
