Q1. Where are you from?

Bolingbrook, IL

Q2. How did you discover copywriting?

I stumbled across Ray Edwards one day and continuously kept hearing about him from people I knew. His book, How to Write Copy that sells was recommended multiple times in the span of a month and I figured it was something I needed to check out. I’ve learned a lot from him.

Q3. What forms of copy do you write?

I specialize in email copywriting but also do content writing and short sales letters.

Q4. What are your favorite niches to write in?

I’ve been in IT for over 20 years and very comfortable writing for this niche. I’m also a foodie and like writing about food and restaurants.

Q5. What is the #1 lesson you've learned as a copywriter?

Good copywriting makes it easy for ideal clients to say yes to what they already want and need. Research, when done well, speaks directly to the conversation clients are already having in their head.

Q6. Who is your favorite copywriter & why?

I read as much copy as I can to hone my craft. There have been so many good writers. I have been fortunate to work with Ray Edwards and be mentored by him. He’s inspiring and has personally encouraged me. He’s my guy!

Q7. Do you have any recent wins to share?

I’m still new to taking on my own clients but my role as a IT Sales Director has helped me develop my writing skills to set appointments and progress sales campaigns. With one of my most recent clients I helped them with an email sequence they had been stuck on for several months prior to us meeting. It freed him up to focus on other parts of his business.

Q8. What would you say to a prospective client who wants to hire you?

I would love the opportunity to help put your vision into words that connect with your ideal client.

Q9. What is a good email address for prospective clients to contact you?

vaughn@vsmmedia.us
